From a Rays standpoint I don't mind it. I do think it is hypocritical for Maddon to get upset with players sliding in a way to "intentionally" injure someone, but then see no problem in Gomes going to town on Crisp. All in all, we weren't going to win the game and if we can salvage some momentum from getting sweeped, that would be nice.
Having a guy like GOmes on your team has to make you feel rather secure any time you throw at anyone. I remember those friends from University that would have your back no matter what went down.
I think the Jays equivalent is Matt Stairs, but ol' Stairsy is over 40.
