A Couple Minor Notes

The Orioles promoted top-prospect and last year's first round draft pick Matt Wieters to Double-A Bowie from Single-A Frederick. Wieters was hitting .342 with 14 HR 38 RBI and .580 slugging. The consensus was he would be bumped up after the All-Star Break.

Also, The O's placed long reliever/spot starter Matt Albers on the disabled list with shoulder pain. He left last night's emergency start with tightness. He is getting an MRI in Baltimore soon. To replace him on the roster the Orioles recalled reliever Fernando Cabrera. Cabrera pitched for the Orioles last year and had a 0.69 ERA in rehab appearances this year. He is coming off elbow surgery.

Final minor note is Brian Burres is available today after missing last night's start with a stomach virus.
